- Net sales for the first quarter ended January 31, 2021 were $909.3 million as compared to $823.1 million for the first quarter ended January 31, 2020, an increase of $86.2 million, or 10.5%. Net sales of poultry products for the first quarter ended January 31, 2021 and 2020, were $870.2 million and $771.5 million, respectively, an increase of $98.7 million, or 12.8%. The increase in net sales of poultry products resulted from a 13.0% increase in the average sales price of poultry products sold, slightly offset by a 0.1% decrease in the pounds of poultry products sold. During the first quarter of fiscal 2021, the Company sold 1,150.2 million pounds of poultry products, down from 1,151.8 million pounds during the first quarter of fiscal 2020. The decrease in pounds of poultry products sold resulted from a 0.8% decrease in the number of head processed and a 1.1% decrease in the average live weight of poultry processed.
