Petrobras on human resources measures
Rio de Janeiro, April 17, 2020 – Petróleo Brasileiro S.A. – Petrobras informs that it has become aware, as of today, of an injunction by the Labor Court of Rio de Janeiro that prevents the company from applying measures to reduce personnel expenses, and, specifically, determines that the company refrains from implementing measures to reduce working hours and remuneration, as disclosed on April 1, 2020.
Petrobras will assess the full content of the order, in order to analyze the applicable appeals.
Nevertheless, Petrobras clarifies that the actions adopted to reinforce resilience were taken due to the state of calamity and force majeure declared in the country, based on legal provisions (art. 501 of the CLT and art. 3 of MP 927) and on the Federal Constitution.
Petrobras reinforces that it has adopted emergency and temporary measures that have as a priority the preservation of jobs and the company's financial sustainability, in view of the impacts of the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic and the oil price shock, aligned with measures adopted by the entire global energy industry, which aim at overcoming the impacts of one of the largest oil crises of the last 100 years.
