111_page1005.jpg Press Release Vale informs about a fire on the conveyor belt at the Salobo mine Rio de Janeiro, October 5, 2021 - Vale SA (“Vale”) informs that a fire partially affected the conveyor belt at the Salobo mine, in the municipality of Marabá (PA). The fire was put down by emergency teams with no injuries and no environmental damage. The affected site is undergoing an assessment and the causes of the fire are being investigated. Production of copper concentrate at Salobo is suspended, with initial assessment to resume operations by the end of October. Other activities, including mine and maintenance operations, proceed normally. In 2020, Salobo produced 172.7kt of copper concentrate.
